HEALTH CARE SUMMER IMMERSION PROGRAM

Explore the possibilities waiting for you in health care while experiencing life on a real college campus during Health Care Summer Immersion at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis.

During our seven-day, six-night academic enrichment program, students will stay the week at the University, taking part in academic and college prep programs during the day and experiencing campus life and the city of St. Louis by night.

Session Dates

Session I: June 23-29, 2024 | Session II: July 21-27, 2024

Academic Programming 

This non-credit, academic enrichment program provides students the opportunity to explore health care careers while building a foundation for success in college. Throughout the Summer Immersion Program, students will engage with their peers through a series of activities ranging from academic and research programming to skill- and leadership-building workshops. 

EXPLORE the diverse opportunities in health care

ENGAGE in hands-on, college-level academic and lab experiences, such as anatomy dissection, organic chemistry, infectious diseases, microbiology and pharmacy compounding

INTERACT with expert faculty and staff 

PARTICIPATE in leadership activities 

DEVELOP lasting relationships with peers with similar and diverse interests

Leave ENRICHED and PREPARED to take the next steps in applying and transitioning to college

Social Programming

The Health Care Summer Immersion Program provides opportunities for participants to connect with their peers and build lasting relationships. Through intentional recreational programming designed to build community and foster student engagement, Summer Immersion offers participants a sneak peek at life on campus and throughout St. Louis.

Programming Schedule

Upon registration, a detailed schedule of events will be made available, but in the meantime, check out a sample schedule to see what types of experiences you can expect.

Sunday 

12-2 p.m. – Program check-in 

2:30-3:30 p.m. – Student and family orientation 

4-5 p.m. – Explore Your New Home Away from Home: Campus Tour 

5-6 p.m. – Summer Immersion welcome dinner 

7-10 p.m. – Social programming 

10 p.m. – Quiet hours begin 

10:30 p.m. – Students curfew to be in their rooms 

MondayFriday 

Schedule content will vary each day. 

7:30-8:30 a.m. – Breakfast 

9 a.m.-Noon – Academic Workshop/ Lectures/ Research/ Health Care Profession Exploration 

Noon-1:30 p.m. – Lunch 

1:30-3:30 p.m. – Choose your own adventure: Cocurricular seminars and activities 

3:30-5:30 p.m. – Free time 

5:30-6:30 p.m. – Dinner 

6:30-9 p.m. – Evening activities such as movie night at the Chase Park Plaza Theater, etiquette and networking dinner, design and paint, ice cream socials etc. 

9-10 p.m. – Watch a new movie on movies.uhsp.edu, play a game of ping pong or pool on the third floor, and relax in the lounge area with new friends. 

10-10:30 p.m. – Quiet hours begin 

10:30 p.m. – Student curfew to be in their rooms

Cost of Attendance 

The cost of the week-long Health Care Summer Immersion Program is $850. This registration fee is all-inclusive and covers: 

  • Housing 
  • Meals (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) 
  • Program materials 
  • Lab equipment 
  • Activity expenses 

Application and Decisions

Reviews of completed applications will begin in February and decisions will be made on a rolling basis. All materials must be received by the application deadline to be considered for a space in the program.  

A $450 non-refundable deposit will be collected to secure your place in the program and credited to your account toward overall cost of attendance. 

The 2024 application deadline is May 28.

The University’s campus is located in the heart of the Central West End, one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods, providing our students a safe, central home base with direct access to culture and entertainment to enrich their lives.
