Whether you’re looking to extend your high school or undergraduate athletic career or want to flex your skills on the field, UHSP has a team for you — many with scholarship opportunities.

I talked to soccer coaches at many other colleges, but I felt like my heart led me to UHSP. I tell new students that this place becomes home because even though it’s a big extended community, we all know each other and support each other, including the faculty and staff. At UHSP, you have this built-in community surrounding you all the time. I feel grateful to be able to play soccer here and pursue my academic interests in computer science.

Right now I’m studying for the MCAT, and I’ll be applying this summer. I’ve played soccer my whole life and wasn’t planning on playing in college. When an admission’s representative visited my high school, we were talking and I mentioned that I would like to play intramural soccer for fun. That’s when I found out that I could play collegiate-level while pursuing a pre-medicine degree at UHSP.

I wanted to be able to play softball, do research and get my pre-med degree, which was hard to find in one package. I love this school. I can do anything here, and the faculty are very understanding of time and commitments and help make everything very doable.

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics

UHSP joined the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in 1993, marking the return of intercollegiate sports to campus. Since then, Eutectic Athletics have grown from two to 22 teams competing in NAIA sports.

Mortarmer "Morty" McPestle is a Eutectic and UHSP's beloved mascot.

Meet Morty, a Unique Mascot for a One-of-a-Kind University

A monster on the field and a mentor in the lab, Mortarmer McPestle (affectionately known as Morty) has been UHSP’s beloved mascot since The Eutectic was named via contest in 2012. A common term in pharmacy, eutectic is the scientific process of two solids combining to form a liquid — a perfect metaphor for our intercollegiate athletic program that combines competitive athletics with a demanding academic program.
