“Founding Father” Eugene Massot, an apothecary from Kentucky, founded the college in 1864 with four of his medical colleagues.

Students can also take part in music ensembles and theater productions, on-campus leadership opportunities and a variety of campus traditions including UHSP C.A.R.E.S., Spirit Week, Move-In Day, the Watermelon Bash and the Annual Student Variety Show.
