Accepted Student Day Welcomes Future Students to Campus

Published on 22 May 2018

On April 7, future students and their parents and family members visited St. Louis College of Pharmacy for Accepted Student Day. Designed to give new students a glimpse of student life, the event featured a variety of activities representing the first year at the College.

“Accepted Student Day gives our future students a feel for how student life will be once they’re on campus,” said Katie Ketchens, assistant director of campus visit experiences. “We wanted to get them excited and ready to begin their journey with us.”

Future students learned about STLCOP C.A.R.E.S. (Community Awareness Reaching Everyone in St. Louis) by working with faculty and staff to make cards to send to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. They also heard from a student organization panel, and were surprised with a dance performance from P1 student Naphtali Eke which was inspired by the College’s annual Variety Show.

Attendees also took part in a Founders Day-themed activity featuring a Q&A session focused on the history of the College. Accepted Student Day finished with campus representatives leading a variety of lawn games on the quad to showcase activities often found during Spring Fling.

While on campus, parents had the opportunity to meet with College faculty members and staff from the Office of Student Affairs, who helped answer their questions regarding the academic experience on campus and highlighted the various resources available on campus to assist students during their time at the College.

“We hope that this event helped showcase all that the College has to offer, and provided students and parents with confidence in knowing that the College was the right choice for them,” said Ketchens.
