Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
At University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, people from around the world come together in pursuit of a shared vision. Their diverse cultures, values, beliefs, interests, experiences and viewpoints enrich our campus community.
As an institution dedicated to health care, cultural competence, social justice and advocacy, and an appreciation of diverse perspectives is critical.
As outlined in the Board of Trustees Policy on Diversity and Inclusion, the University is dedicated to fostering an environment that protects and values differences within a diverse community.
Through its Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the University is building a welcoming environment on campus and creating educational programming and experiences to prepare students for an interconnected world.
In partnership with our campus community, we embrace and value our distinct cultures, worldviews, abilities and experiences to maximize individual and institutional success.
Foster a diverse and inclusive environment through intentional involvement and empowerment that promotes and sustains a sense of belonging.
Through the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, students, faculty and staff benefit from access to:
- Events and programming throughout the year, ranging from expert panels on relevant topics to experiences like the Tunnel of Oppression.
- The Multicultural Center, a welcoming space for members of the UHSP community to connect with each other and explore diverse topics.
- The Spirituality Center, a campus space that supports religious and non-religious spiritual engagement.
- The Interfaith Prayer Room, a place where campus community members can pray, meditate or complete personal religious ceremonies.
Bias Incident Reporting
As outlined in the Bias Incident Response Policy, the University is committed to establishing and nurturing an environment that actively acknowledges and values diversity, equity and inclusion and is free from any type of prejudice, intolerance or harassment.
Members of the UHSP community have the right not to be discriminated against by any individual or group based on their actual or perceived age, ancestry, ethnicity, national origin, ability (physical, psychological, cognitive), sex, gender identity or expression, citizenship or immigration status, marital status, race, religion, religious practice, veteran status, or other protected classification.
The University does not tolerate such incidents and will seek resolution of such matters.
Bias incidents should be reported using the Bias Incident Report form.
Submit a Bias Incident Report
Once a completed report has been submitted, a member of the Bias Incident Response Committee (BIRC) will review and initiate the incident resolution process.
The BIRC will recommend, provide or assist with restorative interventions and measures to personnel and University boards or committees responsible for adjudicating such cases to promote individual and community healing, learning and growth.
