Students accepted into the Pharmacy Scholars Program will complete two years of pre-pharmacy coursework and then apply for progression to the Pharm.D. program (which includes a personal interview and writing sample) via the PharmCAS application process.
As long as scholars meet the performance standards of the program, they will be able to enter the professional program. Students not in the Pharmacy Scholars Program may still pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy path through the regular admission process.
Benefits of the program, include:
- Completion of pre-pharmacy coursework in two years and entering the four-year professional program in the third year at the University, earning a Doctor of Pharmacy in a total of six years.
- An assigned St. Louis College of Pharmacy faculty mentor in addition to the standard pre-pharmacy undergraduate advisor
- Guaranteed merit scholarship for the professional program, upon entry, with satisfactory academic progress and program participation
Pharmacy Scholars Admission Requirements
Applicants must be seeking admission to the University directly from high school (a first-time, full-time student).
The application for admission to the Pharmacy Scholars Program will include a required essay.
Though all applicants are reviewed holistically, competitive applicants will have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5/4.0, and a core math and science course GPA of 3.5/4.0 at the 6th semester in high school. If test scores are submitted, applicants will have a composite ACT score of at least 27 or SAT total score of at least 1280.
Students must complete the form acknowledging their ability to meet the St. Louis College of Pharmacy technical standards.
Program Participation Requirements
- Students must meet with their mentor from the college of pharmacy once per semester
- Students must follow the process for entering the professional program as outlined annually
- All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to professional program entry (fall semester of P1 year)
- Students must meet all cocurricular undergraduate requirements
Apply to Be a Pharmacy Scholar
Complete the following steps to apply for the pharmacy scholars program:
Complete the Pharmacy Scholars Application. Use your admission application log in credentials to access the scholars application.
Attach an Application Essay (500-700 words).
Submit a Letter of Recommendation. Letters should be written by someone outside of your family who is familiar with your past service efforts, dedication to your community or potential as an agent of change within your community.
