Meet the dean of graduate studies and Research
Giovanni Pauletti, M.Pharm., Ph.D., serves as the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research.
Pauletti joined University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in 2019 as the Gustavus and Henry Pfeiffer Professor of Pharmacy and Chair of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences and was announced as the Founding Dean of the College of Graduate Studies in 2021. His office oversees the administration of all graduate programs at the University and leads activities designed to enrich the experience of postdoctoral scholars.
He holds a Master of Pharmacy and Doctor of Philosophy from the prestigious Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland. Commonly referred to as ETH Zurich, the institution is well known for its Nobel Prize winning scientists, including Albert Einstein. During his time at ETH Zurich, Pauletti pursued a rigorous, interdisciplinary education in basic sciences, which prepared him for his later work in research.
Prior to his appointment at UHSP, Pauletti spent 20 years as a professor, researcher, administrator and the director of the graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Cincinnati. He leads an interdisciplinary, translational research program aimed at improving safety and efficacy of drugs and medical devices. In collaboration with various academic and commercial partners, Pauletti successfully enabled preclinical and clinical development of various drug delivery technologies relevant to women’s health and cancer therapy. His professional experience also includes global leadership positions such as Scientific Secretary of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO).
