For Undergraduate
and graduate Students

Following the University’s recent announcement, we understand that there are still many questions about what this means for you. We are working diligently to get you answers as soon as possible. Information will be posted to this page as it is finalized.

See the section below that corresponds to your student group for more information on how this announcement and subsequent transition impacts you.

What Does This Mean for Me?

Undergraduate Students

University operations and your coursework will continue as normal for the remainder of the spring 2026 semester. Faculty and staff advisors will meet with you before the end of the semester to map out an individual plan for completing or continuing your education.

If you are completing your program requirements by the end of the 2025-26 academic year, you can attend commencement in May and graduate from the University as planned. Classes will continue as normal for the remainder of the semester. Keep an eye on your inbox throughout the spring for commencement ceremony details and instructions. If you are interested in continuing your education with a Doctor of Pharmacy, you can still apply to St. Louis College of Pharmacy through the normal process.

If you are on track to finish your program by summer 2027, you may continue your education to completion at UHSP. You are welcome to pursue a teach-out with partnering institutions. If you are interested in continuing your education with a Doctor of Pharmacy, you can still apply to St. Louis College of Pharmacy when the time comes.

If you are early in your program and do not expect to complete your education by summer 2027, you will likely not have time to finish your program at UHSP. You are welcome to remain at UHSP through the 2026-27 academic year if you choose, however you will need to explore our teach-out or traditional transfer options to complete your degree after the 2026-27 academic year. Students who choose the prerequisite route enter St. Louis College of Pharmacy and have these requirements completed by summer 2027 do not need to transfer or teach-out to another institution.

Through teach-out agreements, you will receive the same or similar tuition rate and educational timeline as you had at UHSP.

Graduate Students

MPH courses will continue at UHSP through the end of the 2026-27 academic year. Those on track to complete the program by spring or summer 2027 will graduate from UHSP. Those on a part-time pace who aren’t on track to complete by this time may need to consider a shift to a full-time pace or teach-out option to complete their program in time.

Options to Continue Your Education

Individual plans are being created for each student that will assist them in continuing their educational journeys. Should you desire to stay at UHSP for the 2026-27 academic year, you will absolutely be able to do so. If you are unable to complete your degree by the end of that year, you will then pursue a teach-out or transfer to another institution to finish your educational journey.

TEACH-OUT AGREEMENT

A formal agreement between UHSP and another institution that provides guaranteed credit transfer, same or similar net tuition and fees, and timely degree completion, ensuring a seamless academic transition.

TRADITIONAL TRANSFER

A pathway to an institution of your choice that is done between the student and the new school of choice, following the regular process of transfer admission with supportive advising.

Frequently Asked Questions

Transition

Yes, no matter your program or student level, you can continue your education at UHSP through the next academic year (2026-27). Those who still need to complete program requirements after that year will need to pursue a teach-out or traditional transfer with another institution to complete their education.

If you are on track to graduate at the end of the 2025-26 or 2026-27 academic years, you will graduate from UHSP and receive a UHSP diploma.

Students who transition to WashU CAPS via a teach-out or a traditional transfer and complete program requirements there will graduate with a WashU degree.

Teach-Out and Transfer Options

Teach-Out
A teach-out agreement is a formal agreement between UHSP and another institution that provides guaranteed credit transfer, same or similar net tuition and fees, and timely degree completion, ensuring a seamless academic transition. No need to reapply for admission.

Transfer
A traditional transfer is a pathway to an institution of your choice that is done between the student and the new school following the regular process of transfer admission with supportive advising.

Every undergraduate program has multiple teach-out options. Details on individual teach-out options can be found on our teach-out page. More agreements are in the works, so check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.

UHSP will provide student transcripts to teach-out partners at no cost to the student.

For all other purposes, UHSP has removed our portion of the National Student Clearinghouse fee. For instance, students seeking traditional transfer or an alumni wanting a copy of their transcript will only be charged $2.10 through the National Student Clearinghouse site.

Academics and Enrollment

Individual plans are being created for each student to assist them in continuing their educational journeys. These options may include completing their degree at UHSP, transitioning to WashU, a teach-out agreement with another institution or a traditional transfer to another intuition of their choosing. UHSP faculty and staff are meeting with students to discuss their options.

Leaves of absences are typically granted for one year. Students currently on a leave of absence may return for the 2026-27 academic year.

Through the 2026-27 academic year, you may request official transcripts, degree verifications, and replacement or duplicate diplomas from the UHSP Office of the Registrar.

Beginning with the 2027-28 academic year, your official records and transcript will be maintained by WashU. As we get details, we will share contact information.

All diplomas will contain the name of the school who conferred your degree. If you graduate from UHSP, that will be reflected on your diploma. If you graduate from WashU, your diploma will reflect that.

Tuition, Financial Aid, Scholarships

Tuition for Summer 2026 sessions will continue to be offered at ~50% of Fall and Spring semester rates – $550/credit hour.

Endowed scholarships are awarded on an annual basis in the spring, which students can apply for each year in the fall.

Endowed scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year are in the process of being awarded by the scholarship awards committee this spring, and there will be no change to those awards for the coming academic year.

UHSP’s endowment will continue to support the institution during this transition. Following the transition, our endowment will be restricted to supporting St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Now that this agreement has been finalized, there is still a lot to do and figure out. There are many conversations and discussions that need to take place, in partnership with WashU, to work through details like this. The scholarship application and awarding process following the 2026-27 academic year are topics that still need to be discussed, but will ultimately fall to WashU to determine.

WashU CAPS is currently working to determine pre-pharmacy tuition and scholarship opportunities. We will provide updates and more details become available.

Housing, Dining, Athletics

WashU CAPS is currently working to determine housing opportunities. We will provide updates and more details become available.

The University’s residency requirement that first-year, sophomore and junior level students are required to live on campus will remain in place throughout the 2026-27 academic year.

If an appeal for the housing requirement to be waived is approved, there will be a 25% reduction in University scholarship.

Housing and dining services will remain available throughout the 2026-27 academic year. Housing assignments will be reviewed during the summer to determine availability in both North and South Residence Halls.

WashU is currently working to evaluate and determine housing opportunities beyond the 2026-27 academic year for students transitioning into a CAPS program or continuing into the Pharm.D. program.

More information will be shared as it becomes available.

Yes, University operations, including athletic seasons, will continue as normal for the remainder of the spring 2026 semester.

As we move into the 2026-27 academic year, we will continue to provide students the opportunity to play for teams as long as there are a sufficient number of players to compete. We will continue to examine rosters throughout the year to ensure viable numbers for continued athletic participation.

More Information to Come

This page will be updated as new details are finalized. Stay tuned.
