Teach-Out
For those who are unable to finish their degree program before the end of the 2026-27 academic year, UHSP has established a number of teach-out and transfer partnerships for our students.
As you plan your next steps, it’s important to understand that choosing to pursue a teach-out is a personal decision. While UHSP is committed to establishing teach-out partnerships and providing information and resources, the responsibility for evaluating options and initiating the process ultimately rests with you.
What are Teach-Out Partnerships?
Teach-out partnerships are formal agreements between UHSP and another institution that provides guaranteed credit transfer, same or similar net tuition and fees, and timely degree completion, ensuring a seamless academic transition.
Teach-Out Considerations
We encourage you to carefully review each opportunity and consider how it aligns with your academic goals and individual circumstances. Also, keep in mind the following important considerations to help ensure a smooth transition:
- Pursuing a teach-out or transferring to another institution in the middle of a semester will cause you to lose credit transfer. Making a move to a partner institution between semesters will ensure all eligible coursework moves with you.
- Students need to remain in the same program as designated by teach-out agreement in order to receive and maintain all teach-out benefits. Changing your degree program may result in changes to teach-out benefits like credit transfer, degree completion and cost of attendance.
- Each partner institution’s teach-out agreement differs. Be sure to ask questions and develop an understanding of what pursuing teach-out means for your educational journey.
Steps to Pursuing a Teach-Out
Step 1: Identify teach-out options for your academic program
UHSP has developed multiple teach-out agreements for each program. Explore your options based on your major.
*Note: If you are a double major, a partner school may not be able to teach-out both programs simultaneously. Consequently, you may have to choose one major to pursue. Additionally, minors are not considered degrees and therefore are not a part of the teach-out agreements that have been established.
Step 2: Explore the partner school that you have an interest in
Be sure to do your research. Visit their website(s) to learn more about what they have to offer outside of your academic program. Consider scheduling a campus visit to get a sense for their on-campus experience.
UHSP is also hosting a Teach-Out and Transfer Fair on Thursday, April 23, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Institutions we have developed teach-out and transfer partnerships with will be on campus to answer your questions and share more about their schools.
Step 3: Fill out the FERPA release form in Campus Web
The FERPA release form grants permission to UHSP to share academic and financial records with institutions of interest.
Note: UHSP is only able to provide its own transcripts to partner institutions. If you have credits from other institutions, you may need to provide any new school/s with an official transcript from all previous institutions.
step 4: Reach out to the teach-out institutions you’re interested in
Contact the admissions department of the teach-out institutions you are interested in. Inform them that you are a UHSP student seeking transfer through the teach-out agreement, and their team will guide you through the remaining enrollment steps.
