A Vision for the Future

Published on 25 July 2022

At University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, we embrace change as opportunity. We’re not ones to rest on our laurels. And as pharmacy and health care continue to evolve, we are evolving right alongside them to ensure our students are well-prepared for the ever-changing landscape and demands of health care.

The last few years have been full of excitement. We expanded our brand, building off the legacy of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and paving the way for future growth in the areas of health sciences and graduate studies.

We have invested in our student experience through the addition of new programs, athletic teams, student support services and extracurricular opportunities, and we have welcomed new leaders to bring the University’s vision to life.

But even as we evolve and innovate, we remain grounded in our mission to educate and advance communities of discovery to foster a healthier society. Every opportunity we have embraced, we have embraced with purpose, each time adding one more piece to our puzzle.

To fulfill our vision of being a transformational leader in health education and research, our transition to a university structure became an essential evolution for our institution. With a university designation, we are empowered to pursue opportunities that previously would not have been possible.

As a university, we can build on our strengths, explore new avenues to provide our students with expanded opportunities in and outside of the classroom, diversify our campus community and fortify our legacy in pharmacy and health care education.

In addition to our flagship Doctor of Pharmacy program, we offer 13 undergraduate and two graduate programs to encourage our students to think outside the box when it comes to a career in health care.

Each pathway was designed to prepare students to make a positive impact in the lives of patients, from research to bedside care to administration, while demonstrating the power of interprofessional education and care.

College of  Global Population Health

The College of Global Population Health will serve as a primary home for the University’s global and population health related academic and research programs. The college also was created to help grow University engagement with the St. Louis community to promote health equity and to positively impact health outcomes. In addition, the college will help St. Louis College of Pharmacy equip pharmacy students with the population health competencies necessary to practice effectively in a rapidly evolving health care environment.

Leading as the founding dean of the new College of Global Population Health is David Steeb, Pharm.D., MPH. Steeb came to UHSP from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where he served as an associate professor and Director of Global Engagement.

College of Graduate Studies

The College of Graduate Studies was established to elevate the status of graduate education at UHSP and provide a central home and needed infrastructure for graduate education at the University. The mission of the College of Graduate Studies is to provide leadership, coordination and administrative structure to support all graduate programs  at UHSP.

The new College of Graduate Studies is led by Giovanni Pauletti, M.Pharm., Ph.D., interim dean of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Gustavus and Henry Pfeiffer Endowed Chair and professor of pharmaceutics. Pauletti possesses 24 years of academic research, teaching and administrative leadership experience that provides a solid foundation for the development and implementation of a vision for graduate education that is aligned with the mission and core values of UHSP.

The Eutectics Forward plan, launched in 2021, has spurred incredible growth in providing our students with a fulfilling and supportive experience while at the University. From expanding student services in academics, career support and cocurricular activities to growing our athletics opportunities, we are ensuring our students benefit from a complete college experience.

At UHSP, we know that a nourished soul provides fuel for our students to pursue their career passions.
