St. Louis College of Pharmacy Receives Swan Award
Published on 14 May 2019
St. Louis College of Pharmacy was one of two honorees presented with the Swan Award at the 2019 Ballet Ball hosted by Dance St. Louis on Thursday, April 12, at Palladium Saint Louis. Honorees were recognized for their generosity and support in enriching arts and culture programs in St. Louis and throughout the region.
For the last eight seasons, the College and Dance St. Louis have collaborated on the Liberal Arts Convocations series, providing intellectual and cultural experiences that enrich, complement and extend the reach and value of academic programs for students. Through the partnership, the College has created and presented more than six world dance premieres.
The Liberal Arts Convocations series cultivates an appreciation for beauty and thought-provoking art from many cultures and contributes to providing students with a well-rounded education and college experience. The modern dance and ballet performances brought to campus are only a small view of the wide spectrum of arts and artists the College has hosted. From poets and award-winning musicians to photographers and filmmakers from all over the world, the series exposes the College community not only to the full spectrum of art, but to a diverse representation of artists.
"At the College, we understand the value and impact the arts has on providing a well-rounded education and on encouraging well-rounded individuals," said John A. Pieper, Pham.D., FCCP, FAPhA, president of the College. "The Liberal Arts Convocations series has enriched our campus culture, and we are grateful to Dance St. Louis for working with us to allow our students to experience the artistry of dance. We’re honored to be a 2019 Swan Award recipient, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration."
