Benefits of Living on Campus
Studies show that students who live on campus are not only more satisfied with their college experience, they also earn higher GPAs.
In light of the numerous benefits of living on campus, UHSP has a housing requirement for first-year, sophomore and junior students. Each academic year, students enter into a residency agreement and go through the housing application process.
Benefits of Living on Campus
According to the American Council on Education, students who live on campus are more satisfied — and feel more fulfilled — with their college experience, going on to earn higher GPAs.
In a matter of steps, students can be anywhere on campus — classes, cafeteria, library, friends’ rooms and campus offices.
Everything is included! For students who live on campus, electricity, streaming services, Wi-Fi, cable, furniture, along with a supportive staff that will assist students at any time, are all provided. In addition are the savings afforded by not having to commute.
Living alongside your peers provides you the opportunity to better connect, build stronger relationships and learn to live within a diverse community.
Living on campus offers students the emotional, social and academic support needed to thrive in their new environment. Specially trained Resident Assistants, who live on campus, are on-hand to handle a variety of situations and help students with any needs.
Card-access to residence hall floors, security cameras throughout campus and dedicated public safety officers who patrol campus 24/7 ensure you are secure and safe.
Working, studying, collaborating and living alongside your fellow future health care leaders, you are provided with a built-in professional network after graduation.
Support to Help You Succeed
UHSP offers a number of on-campus resources to help you create your academic home away from home.
- Upper-level students serve as resident assistants (RAs) and live on site to help residential students with any needs, questions and advice. RAs are specially trained to handle a variety of situations.
- A full-time residential life staff member lives on site and is available to assist residents.
- Safety is a priority. The University provides continuous security with both foot patrols and closed-circuit security cameras. Students living in our residence halls must use their ID card to gain building and elevator access after-hours.
- Fixed monthly expenses. As a resident, housing costs are provided up front, and utilities and wi-fi are included. So, you can focus on your studies without worrying about unexpected costs.
- Living on campus provides built-in support. The friendships you form while living on campus will set you up for long-term success while at the University and after graduation.
