Following the University’s recent announcement, we understand that there are still many questions about what’s to come. New information will be posted to this page as it is finalized.

This agreement offered opportunities to enhance student experiences and preserve the institution’s more than 160-year legacy while securing the future of pharmacy and health science education in St. Louis for future generations.

What Does This Mean for Me?

Pharmacy Alumni

All pharmacy alumni, no matter their graduation year, will gain and retain access to all WashU alumni benefits.

There should be minimal disruption at your alma mater. UHSP, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy, will continue to operate as usual until the end of the 2026-27 academic year. At the beginning of the fall 2027 semester, the college will continue operations as part of WashU, within its current home in the Academic and Research Building.

Non-Pharmacy alumni

The Office of Advancement will continue to offer services and programming for UHSP alumni, and the Office of the Registrar is available to you for any degree verification or transcript needs. Following the 2026-27 academic year, all UHSP academic records, regardless of graduation year or degree program, will be maintained by WashU.

The University has been navigating challenging U.S. higher education trends over the past several years, which include uncertain enrollment landscapes and skyrocketing costs. Many higher education institutions, and pharmacy schools in particular, have faced increased competition and diminishing applicant pools over the last decade.

Despite the many strategic decisions to combat these changes, the realities of higher education  made it clear that we needed a sustainable solution. 

In exploring possible solutions, this agreement offered opportunities to enhance student experiences and preserve the institution’s 162-year legacy while securing the future of pharmacy and health science education in St. Louis for future generations.

There should be minimal disruption to pharmacy students during this transition. St. Louis College of Pharmacy will continue to operate on our campus in its current home in the Academic and Research Building.

Pending regulatory approval, the college will become the 10th school at WashU in the fall of 2027. The WashU St. Louis College of Pharmacy will function as an individual school and will not operate under the umbrella of the WashU School of Medicine.

Our endowment will continue to support the institution during this transition. Following the transition, our endowment will be restricted to supporting St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Absolutely! The engagement and support of our alumni remain critical to the legacy and continuation of St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Office of Advancement is still here to serve you, and we will continue to offer programming, events and services over the next academic year to provide alumni connection and professional growth. All diplomas will contain the name of the school who conferred your degree. Only students whose degree was conferred from WashU will be able to get a WashU diploma. If you did not officially graduate from WashU, your diploma will not change.

Through the 2026-27 academic year, you may request official transcripts, degree verifications, and replacement or duplicate diplomas from the UHSP Office of the Registrar .

Beginning with the 2027-28 academic year, your official records and transcript will be maintained by WashU. As we get details, we will share contact information.

Request Formal Documents

You may request official transcripts, degree verifications and replacement or duplicate diplomas from the UHSP Office of the Registrar. Following the transition, all academic records, regardless of graduation year or degree program, will be maintained by Washington University in St. Louis.
