STLCOP Named a 2016 "Great College to Work For”

For the fifth straight year, St. Louis College of Pharmacy joins an elite group of colleges and universities selected as a “Great College to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

“I truly appreciate the hard work of all our faculty and staff as we are in the midst of an incredibly exciting time full of energy, promise and innovation,” said College President John A. Pieper, Pharm.D. “We have accomplished so much together. The implementation of several major initiatives our strategic plan, including an unparalleled, forward-thinking curriculum, is an incredible feat and a source of great pride. I cannot thank our dedicated faculty and staff members enough.”

The College is nearing completion on a transformational journey with the most ambitious campus expansion in the College’s history. The $110 million project involves the construction of two new buildings on the College’s nine-acre campus adjacent to the Washington University Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading biomedical complexes. The award-winning 213,000-square-foot Academic and Research Building opened in fall of 2015. The Recreation and Student Center is scheduled to open in early 2017.

“We are also building on strong history by forming new, collaborative partnerships with our neighbors in the Washington University Medical Center,” Pieper said. “Through these partnerships, our impressive faculty and the increased capacity for research in our new Academic and Research Building, we will continue to work toward our vision of being globally prominent in pharmacy and health care education, interprofessional patient-centered care and collaborative research. These accomplishments would not have happened without the support and commitment of College’s Board of Trustees to the entire St. Louis College of Pharmacy community.”

The College is just one of 93 institutions recognized this year with a 2016 Great College to Work For designation and one of only three institutions in Missouri. The Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For survey is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country.

“Nine years in, The Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For program is well known as a mark of a college or university that puts thought and effort into serving the needs of its faculty and staff,” said Liz McMillen, editor of The Chronicle. “The colleges and universities that make the list are highly rated by their employees for creating great working environments, an important achievement that helps them recruit top academic and administrative talent.”

“One of our greatest assets is the people who make up our community,” Pieper said. “Inside and out of the classroom and laboratory, and in hands-on learning opportunities, every faculty and staff member has a tremendous impact on shaping future pharmacy practitioners and leaders. It is an enormous responsibility, and one that is met with considerable enthusiasm and dedication.”
