UHSP Ranks Fourth on St. Louis’ Largest NIH Award Recipients List

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis was ranked No. 4 on the St. Louis Business Journal’s recently released list of the Region’s Largest National Institutes of Health (NIH) Award Recipients for 2021.

The list highlights the top 25 NIH award recipients in St. Louis ranked by NIH award volume. The University placed fourth on the list with four NIH awards during 2021, totaling more than $2.8 million.

The ranking marks the third, consecutive time the University has placed in the top five on the list amongst other prominent research institutions such as Washington University in St. Louis and Saint Louis University.

It’s very exciting to have once again made the list of St. Louis’ largest NIH recipients. Our institution takes great pride in its efforts in research and drug discovery, and it’s great to be recognized with a spot in the top five.

In recent years, extramural funding at the University has increased rapidly. Currently, the University receives annual funding through NIH and other granting agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S Food and Drug Administration and the Office of Naval Research.

In the coming months, UHSP will continue to expand on its research in pharmacy and drug discovery, while exploring new research opportunities in numerous areas including basic sciences, global population health and health outcomes.
