NEW APPROACHES TO PAIN AND ADDICTION
In the search for new ways to treat pain and addiction, Ream Al-Hasani, Ph.D. has brought national attention and NIH funding to UHSP for her research on the neurological effects of addiction and the brain’s response to pain or stress.

In the 2022 Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research report, UHSP ranked #3 in NIH funding among private pharmacy schools and among the country’s top 50 public or private institutions for NIH grants.
#4 IN THE REGION
UHSP was ranked No. 4 on the St. Louis Business Journal’s list of region’s largest National Institutes of Health (NIH) award recipients for 2021, totaling more than $2.8 million.
Athletics
Competitive on the court and in the classroom, UHSP students have been excelling on a variety of playing fields for years. A member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) since 1993, UHSP has produced four All-American athletes, with many more to come.
