COVID-19 Resources

We encourage all members of the campus community to be mindful of ongoing health and safety guidelines.

CARES Act Funding

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing recession, Congress passed several economic stimulus bills that allocate Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) to colleges and universities based on their enrollment of Federal Pell Grant recipients and those students who do not receive Pell Grants.

The grants required application for a student portion and an institutional portion of available relief funds. The student portion of the funds is distributed directly to students in the form of emergency grants for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. The University portion of the funds is utilized to offset institutional costs caused by the pandemic.

As soon as the CARES Act was passed, the University began working to understand the law and how to make the most impact for students and continue to do so with the addition of the CRRSAA and ARPA funding. Guidance from the U.S. Department of Education has been evolving and securing these funds has been a complex process.

The University’s leadership team has and will continue to issue communication to the campus community and post reports on the use of the CARES Act funds as needed.
