Meet the Next President of UHSP
On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis Board of Trustees announced David D. Allen, R.Ph., Ph.D., FASHP, FNAP, FAPhA, will serve as the University’s fifth president, with his tenure beginning on July 1, 2021.
Allen’s selection as president follows a nearly year-long search process that included active participation from students, faculty, staff and alumni.
With the announcement, UHSP takes another step forward toward its vision of becoming a transformational leader in health education and research.
About the Presidential Search
On April 15, 2020, after 10 years of dedicated service to University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, President John A. Pieper announced his plans to retire at the end of the 2020-21 academic year.
With immense gratitude for President Pieper’s leadership and contributions to the University, the Board of Trustees embarked on a presidential search for the University’s fifth president.
In consultation with the Board of Trustees Executive Committee, Elaine Haynes, B.S. ’86, President and CEO of KaloCyte Inc. and former chair of the Board, appointed Paul Beahm, B.S. ’85, senior vice chair of the Board, to lead the search committee.
While the responsibility for hiring a president for University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis ultimately resides with the Board of Trustees, the Board recognized and deeply values the University community. Throughout the search process, the Board remained committed to stakeholder participation that ensured the representation of students, alumni, faculty and staff.
