Tell us about yourself.
Every year my husband and I pick a new location to visit for vacation. I have been to 43 states and 12 countries. Our favorite activity is hiking in the mountains.
When I am not traveling, I can be found watching my favorite teams, the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights, the St. Louis Blues and the Green Bay Packers. During the football season, I have been known to take a break and discuss the latest football news with others at the cashier’s window in the Business Office.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Since beginning my career at UHSP in January 2020, I have learned there are not many “typical days.” I may have a to-do list started in the morning, but I’ll adapt as other items take precedence.
I was recently promoted to Senior Accountant, so my primary responsibilities involve student billing, including posting charges and payments to student accounts and performing reconciliations to ensure accounts are balanced, as well as working directly with students at the cashier’s window.
What are you passionate about?
My life’s passion is living each day to its fullest. After my son’s passing in 2014, I realized life is too short to be wasted on worrying about the small things. I tell people to take the risk, step outside of their comfort zone and try something new because they may find something they really enjoy.
What’s the best part about working at UHSP?
My favorite part of working at UHSP is interacting with the students. Since I work at the cashier’s window, I have the opportunity to get to know quite a few of our students. I enjoy assisting them in understanding their accounts as well as offering words of encouragement, especially during exam times.
What do you want students/campus to know about the Business Office?
The Business Office is here to help students in person, on Microsoft Teams or via email. We are here to answer questions regarding student accounts, refund checks, reimbursement checks for expenses and payroll.
Our office is located in the lobby of South Residence Hall. The cashier’s window is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students can always feel free to stop by, even if it is just to say hello and get some candy!
