Class of 2022 Reflections: Kyle Bai
Published on 01 May 2022
Professional student Kyle Bai will graduate with his Doctor of Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy this May.
Originally from St. Charles, Missouri, Bai will relocate to Connecticut after graduation, with plans to pursue a career in pharmaceutical industry and eventually start his own company with his friends and pharmacy colleagues.
Why did you choose UHSP for your college experience?
I wanted to go into pharmacy, and I wanted to have a college experience that was close to home, so St. Louis College of Pharmacy at UHSP was a good fit for me.
What are your favorite things about the University? What will you miss the most?
One of my favorite things about UHSP, and the thing that I will also miss most, is the supportive campus community. I’m really going to miss seeing my friends on campus and our spontaneous trips to local restaurants after class.
What is a favorite memory from your time here?
I have so many great memories, but one that really stands out was my White Coat Ceremony. That milestone really reignited my passion for pharmacy and my motivation for the future, and it signified a significant step forward into the next chapter of my life.
What advice do you have for new students just starting their college journey?
I would tell them to make the most of their experience at UHSP. There are so many opportunities for leadership and so many ways to get involved on campus and build campus engagement. I would encourage them to always be willing to try something new and share their ideas.
What does graduation mean to you? How do you feel as this milestone approaches?
Graduation gives me a feeling of excitement because it demonstrates that my years of studying and hard work have paid off. But there are also feelings of apprehension because I will no longer be a student. Despite any apprehension I may have, I’m confident that the education and training I've received at St. Louis College of Pharmacy at UHSP has equipped me to tackle any challenges that may arise in the future.
What are your plans after graduation? What are your hopes for the future?
After graduation, I’m moving to Connecticut with my girlfriend who is starting a health administration fellowship with Hartford Healthcare. My hope is to pursue a career within pharmaceutical industry. But, one of my dreams is to start my own company with friends. We have brainstormed lots of ideas, but we’re still working to solidify an idea that we feel can be successful. As I move into a pharmacy career, I'm also hopeful that the pharmacy profession will continue to provide pharmacists with opportunities to practice at the top of their licenses and fully utilize their training and expertise.
