UHSP Joins SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards Program
Published on 15 September 2021
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is one of more than 430 private higher education institutions nationwide to join the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards private college savings and investment program.
Through the program, families have the ability to earn tuition rewards points that can be used as discounts off tuition at private institutions that are participating program members. Points can be earned by saving and investing in SAGE’s network of financial affiliates, which include a variety of banks and credit unions, employers, health care insurers and financial advisors.
Families can earn tuition rewards on 529 saving plans, CDs, mutual funds, 401(k)s, IRAs, supplemental retirement accounts, annuities, insurance products (with cash value), reverse mortgages, brokerage accounts, certain income-replacement health insurance products and home equity lines of credit.
Tuition rewards earned represent the guaranteed minimum amount of institutional financial aid that participating colleges and universities will award to students.
“This program is designed to help families save and prepare for college, and we are excited to become program members and to be able to offer this outstanding benefit to prospective students who may be thinking about attending UHSP,” said Jill Gebke, assistant vice president of admissions and chief enrollment officer.
To qualify for the program, students must be registered by the start of their senior year in high school. If the student is admitted to a SAGE partner school and matriculates, the participating college or university will offer a guaranteed minimum scholarship at least equal to the amount of the student’s tuition rewards points – up to a maximum of one full year’s tuition spread evenly over a projected four years of attendance, starting with the first year.
Additional scholarship funds, grants or other discounts can be blended or stacked with SAGE Tuition Rewards.
“Affordability is key when it comes to making private college a reality for students,” added Gebke. “Membership in the SAGE Tuition Rewards Program provides us with an additional way to identify and recruit students who may be interested in attending UHSP, while also offering monetary support that can help ease the financial burden associated with attending a private institution like ours.”
