DESCRIPTION:2026 Reunion Weekend\n\n\nDate: May 9Time: 2 p.m. \n\n\n\nProfessional Commencement for St. Louis College of Pharmacy at UHSP will be held in the competition gymnasium in the Recreation and Student Center on Saturday\, May 9 at 2 p.m. The ceremony also will be streamed live online so that family and friends not in attendance may view the ceremony from home. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTIME \n\n\n\nThe professional commencement ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation \n\n\n\nUniversity of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis Competition Gymnasium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParking \n\n\n\nComplimentary parking is available in the UHSP Main Garage at 4315 Nash Way\, St. Louis\, Missouri\, 63110. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrder Regalia and Announcements\n\n\n\nYou can now place orders for regalia. Orders are due no later than Friday\, April 10.   \n\n\n\nRegalia will be shipped directly to you at the address you provide and should arrive within 3-4 weeks of ordering.  \n\n\n\nOnce you complete the order\, you should receive a confirmation email. If you have questions about sizing\, your package is lost\, your cap doesn’t fit\, etc. there will be a customer service number for our vendor\, Oak Hall\, on that confirmation email. They will help you to reorder anything or answer questions about shipping. Please open your order as soon as you’ve received it\, to ensure that it is correct.   \n\n\n\nEven if you do not plan to attend Commencement\, you are still welcome to order regalia for personal photos and celebrations.  \n\n\n\n\nOrder Regalia\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOak Hall provides the option to purchase announcements\, diploma frames\, souvenir tassels in UHSP colors and more. \n\n\n\n\nOrder Announcement cards\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCeremony Tickets\n\n\n\nYou can now reserve tickets for Commencement. The University’s constant pursuit of excellence\, insatiable curiosity and commitment to its students and community have always been the guiding light for our growth and expansion. \n\n\n\n\nAbout Our Founding\nSeeing a need for pharmacy education in St. Louis\, Eugene Massot\, a self-educated apothecary from Kentucky\, became the founding father of St. Louis College of Pharmacy\, and his vision became the foundation for our institution’s legacy. \n\n\n\nAs a 13-year-old boy growing up in Galena\, Illinois\, in 1836\, Massot worked as an apprentice in a local pharmacy. In those days\, apothecaries didn’t attend classes\, and there were no formal degrees in pharmacy in the Midwest. \n\n\n\nAfter completing his apprenticeship\, Massot followed the Gold Rush to California\, passing through St. Louis on the way. In 1852\, he returned to St. Louis and opened his own drugstore\, the same year the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA) was formed. He became closely involved with APhA and helped to breathe new life into the St. Louis Pharmaceutical Association. \n\n\n\nMassot wanted the local apothecaries\, who had begun to meet in the back rooms of drugstores to learn about botany\, chemistry and other pharmaceutical topics\, to have the education he never had. \n\n\n\nIn 1860\, Massot\, along with a committee of apothecaries and physicians\, was appointed by the St. Louis Pharmaceutical Association to consider opening a college of pharmacy. Discussions stalled out during the Civil War but were revived in September of 1864. \n\n\n\nOn November 11\, 1864\, at 7:30 p.m.\, St. Louis College of Pharmacy was founded in the hall of the St. Louis Medical College. Massot\, along with four other medical colleagues\, went about drafting a charter\, constitution\, and bylaws. He was the only apothecary on the committee. \n\n\n\nFour years later\, Massot was among the College’s first graduating class of 17 men. \n\n\n\nIn 1869\, just one year later\, the College was forced to suspend instruction due to low enrollment. Massot persuaded APhA to hold its annual convention in St. Louis in 1871\, which garnered enough interest and support to boost enrollment\, allowing the college to resume classes in 1871. \n\n\n\nThe legacy of Massot’s determination lives on as the institution continues to expand student opportunity through new programs and an innovative health care education that prepares graduates to be leaders in building a healthier society. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA History of Service\n\n\n\nAs a health care-focused institution\, building communities and improving patient care is at the core of our identity. Students and faculty at the University are tackling some of society’s most pressing challenges. \n\n\n\nA longstanding tradition of UHSP Founders Day is a dedicated morning of giving back to the community\, which was established in 2001 by members of the Student Pharmacists Association.
