Faculty and Staff Biography
PhD, Sociology, University of Illinois at Chicago
I am a medical sociologist who studies the politics of health and social movements. I explore these themes through projects on the nonknowledge of psychedelic therapies, women’s drug policy activism, and the relationship between medical education and transgender health disparities.
My research has appeared in Gender & Society, Sociology Compass, PsychCritiques, and MedED Portal. I also have a book, Acid Revival: The Psychedelic Renaissance and the Quest for Medical Legitimacy, forthcoming with the University of Minnesota Press.
I am originally from Chicago and currently live in St. Louis where I enjoy embroidering, playing the drums, and relating any life situation to something that happened on The Office.
